A hymenoplasty is the surgical repair of the hymen. Some women are born without a hymen. Some cultures, religions or societies desire that a woman be a virgin with an intact hymen so that they will bleed on their wedding night. Hymenoplasty allows this to occur for these women so they will not be disgraced and outcast if this were not the case.
