Vitamins, Fertility and NCCRM IVF

A healthy diet can provide various nutrients your body needs, but sometimes it is not quite enough. Our bodies need extra nutrients, especially for women going through a fertility journey. Certain diseases impact the ability to absorb nutrients properly along with deficiencies in certain vitamins and minerals that can cause fertility problems. So, which vitamins are best for fertility and NCCRM IVF? We are here to help!

Vitamin D

Vitamin D is a vitamin that the body needs but is not obtained primarily from food. Instead, vitamin D is obtained from sun exposure. Low levels of vitamin D are associated with infertility due to ovulation problems and the risk of endometriosis. NCCRM IVF has higher success rates for individuals with higher levels of vitamin D. Various prenatal or preconception vitamins contain significant doses of vitamin D as an essential nutrient before conception.

Vitamin B6

There are various forms of vitamin B that are important for a fertility journey, such as NCCRM IVF, from B3 and B6 to B9 and B12. All forms of vitamin B play a vital role in red blood cells, but B6 is one of the most beneficial for fertility. According to the Oxford Academic American Journal of Epidemiology, higher levels of B6 vitamin has been proven to increase fertility. The right prenatal vitamin should provide the optimal dose of vitamin B6.

Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10)

CoQ10 is an antioxidant that is recommended for men and women throughout an NCCRM IVF journey. CoQ10 provides energy to our cells in order to function properly. For men, this means a potential improvement in sperm function. For women, CoQ10 is best when undergoing NCCRM IVF. According to the Journal of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics, higher levels of CoQ10 are associated with higher quality eggs and pregnancy rates for IVF patients.

Prenatal and Preconception Vitamins

The best form to obtain additional forms of these nutrients is through prenatal and/or preconception vitamins. These provide various vitamins and nutrients all in one optimal dose. From methylated folate, DHA, to vitamin B6, choline, vitamin D, and more. Please always consult with your doctor before taking any supplements. It is important to determine what vitamins you are deficient in first in order to prescribe the right dosage for you during your NCCRM IVF journey.
